HOW TO CARE FOR THE SHAKUHACHI?
Emergency instructions

What will you do if your instrument suddenly cracks? Here, I will show some stopgap measures.
The following measures will apply to small cracks, but if your instrument cracks the whole length, it should be immediately soaked in water over 8 hours. I have had my instruments crack, and the most important thing is to stay calm and take care of the problem as soon as possible.

<Tools>
‰Ί€”υŽΚ^‚P
plastic bag , rubber bands , towel

sStep 1t
‰Ί€”υŽΚ^‚QAt first, moisten the towel and wrap it around the shakuhachi.

ƒ|ƒCƒ“ƒg. Be careful not to let the towel actually come into contact with the crack, because the towel will jam itself in the crack after the crack closes up.

sStep ‚Qt
‰Ί€”υŽΚ^‚RFix the towel with rubber bands.

sStep ‚Rt
‰Ί€”υŽΚ^‚SPut the instrument and towel in a plastic bag and leave to soak overnight.

ƒ|ƒCƒ“ƒgIt's advisable to undertake repair work on the instrument when it is moist. If the crack doesn't close up, repeat the process once more.

ƒ|ƒCƒ“ƒgI've found that through this process you can close most all cracks. If the crack still persists, leave the instrument wrapped in the moist towel or in water one more night.
ƒ|ƒCƒ“ƒgSometimes the cracks will join together slightly askew. This doesn't seem to affect the sound. My roku sun did this, but I still use it for recordings and concerts.
