Series 400 Shinkansen

It is the series which appeared when Yamagata Shinkansen was opened for traffic. It is the first Shinkansen which can be in direct communication in the Shinkansen section and the old railroad line section. It connected with series 200 and was running the Shinkansen section before. Now, it connects with series E4 and is running. It runs an old railroad line only in series 400 between the Fukushima station - Shinjyo stations. Since series 400 runs an old railroad line, its section of the body is small. Taking advantage of this feature, the examination of top speed was also performed with the test vehicle of this series. It appeared by six-car organization in the beginning. However, since one trailer was added behind, it is seven-car organization now.When series E3 was supplied to Yamagata Shinkansen, it was changed into paint of the same design as series E3.

Type 401

The control electric vehicle of the method of Tokyo. It was the test vehicle of a first-class car. Afterwards, it was converted on a par with a mass-production vehicle, and was set to 411-1.

411-0

The control electric vehicle of Tokyo. It is a first-class car. It is automatic and there is equipment for connecting so that it can connect with series 200. Indoor seats are two sequences and one sequence. There are a wheelchair correspondence rest room, a washroom, a conductor room, etc. 411-1 is the vehicles which converted 401.

A middle electric vehicle without a pantograph. Since it is a reserved seat, the interval of a seat is 980mm. It has a rest room and a washroom. 425-1 is the vehicles which converted 403.

A middle electric vehicle without a pantograph. Since it is a nonreserved seat, the interval of a seat is 910mm. It has a rest room and a washroom. 425-201 is the vehicles which converted 405.

426-200

The middle electric car in which a pantograph is carried. Since it is a reserved seat, the interval of a seat is 980mm. 426-201 is the vehicles which converted 402.

Type 429

The trailer added in 1995. It has the rest room and the washroom. The seat is improved by the type with which a cushion moves.
