[ Beginning of the Feast ] After the men left for hunting, the women also left to find food in the river and the jungle.
Women of the Yanomami tribe do hard labor like carrying firewood and water. As they are
reliable, they are often hired as porters. In the evening, with the time for Reahu approaching,
women started to put on make-up, coloring their faces and body red using sap of a tree called
rouge tree and also carefully drawing some designs with charcoal. Their skin was smooth and
beautiful. When the sunset, women started to dance. First solo and the others followed one
beat later. They sang and danced around together. Their bodies were bouncing like springs.
Their clear voice seemed to be reaching the sky. |
