YOSHIHARU SEKINO
Born in Tokyo, 1949.
Graduated from the faculty of Law, Hitotsubashi University, 1975.
Graduated from the faculty of Medicine, Yokohama City University, 1982..
While Sekino was a student at Hitotsubashi University, he founded the Exploration club, and led an expedition that descended the length of the Amazon River.
He traveled to South America 32 times, spending a cumulative total of 10 out of 25 years there.
Since 1993, he has been undetaking his Great journey, tracing the route of mankind which spread from its origin in Africa to the Americas in reverse, starting at the southern tip of South America.

Dr. Sekino has written many books in Japanese, including -The South America Continent (Asahi Shinbun Sha)-,
And -the Guiana Plateau (Kodansya)-.
In conjunction with his Great Journey he has been putting out a series of photographic volumes -The Great Journey
