The Great Journey
The year 1992 marked the 500th anniversary of the arrival of Columbus in America. When Columbus arrived, tribes having high level of culture, such as the Aztecs and the Incas , were already living in America. The Human race discovered America more than 10,000 years ago. Those early inhabitants were Mongoloids, of the same Asian stock as Japanese.
When, from where, and how did they come to the American continents?
Man originated in eastern Africa 4 million years ago. Well over a million years ago, the human race spread out of Africa into Asia. The southern tip of South America was finally reached by way of the far north., North America and then South America. That was 10,000 thousand years before Columbus reached America. The great journey of Man from his cradle in Eastern Africa to South America, over a distance of 50,000km was an enormous and revolutionary event. It cannot be replicated, at least man strikes out for another planetary system.
My plan is retrace the route of Man in reverse, starting from Patagonia at the southern tip of South America and traveling the more than 50,000km northward through the American continents, across Bering Strait and across the Eurasian continent to the cradle of the human race in eastern Africa. Man, basically a tropical animal, left his home in Africa and struck out into vast uninhabited new continents of Asia and the Americas. This journey far surpassed that of Columbus, and ranks as the greatest adventure that Man has ever experienced. I plan to trace the reverse route., using only the power in my own arms and legs, and having intimate contact with the native people all along the way.
