The day, Three Brothers saw snow first time.

Dear Friends,,

Last New Year's holiday, I brought three brothers and their Mom、 live at Amami Ohshima located close to the tropical southernmost area, to Nagano for skiing.

They were Shu at age 10, Satoshi at 12, Hajime at 16 and their mother.

Of course I knew I alone couldn't help them enjoy skiing, I asked 3 of my friends to come to help and assist me.

I welcomed them wearing light cloth at Haneda Airport, brought them to my parent's home in Tokyo, then practiced wearing ski gear , rented and gathered from many of my friends. It was like a fashion show.

Almost everything was new to them, such like wearing cloth on cloths, snapping suspender on, not before but after putting pants on, need to wear under pants beneath
skiing pants, etc. whilist they were amazed at seeing their breath turned white cloud outside the heated room.

Next morning, we moved from there to Nagano area via Ueno railway terminal. Everything were wonder for them starting with buying train ticket from automated machine, then go through automatic passenger gate.
In the Bullet Train from Ueno to Nagano, they played cards like most kids usualy do.

Regretfuly, there was no snow when we arrived at Nagano station where one of my friends came to pick us up. Still they marveled touching frozen fountain water in front.

After buying their fond Big-Mac, not available at Amami, we moved from station to skiing area.

Shu shouted he saw white paint, when denied, claimed it must be white powder such like lining sports court, and again denied, he said he was shure it's powdered styrofoam stucked there.

Then they saw snow falling first time in their life.
The kids seemed to have thought snow falles in block, not like falling flower pedal.

Arrived at parking area of skiing area where it was naturaly fully covered by snow, they started running around with full joy, having fried potato in their hands.

Shu filled Coke bottle with full of snow declaring that he would bring snow back to home.

After a while, we successed in fitting rented ski on them, brought them up to the down hill slope and could start teaching them skiing.

Shu and Satoshi didn't have any fear, thus quickly learnt skiing. But Mom was a problem.

Everytime she slipped down, she just chuckled without any reason, and without standing up.Eventualy, Satoshi started teaching Mom how to stand up and how to ski.

In the evening, Shu scared us saying he would like to play skiing all through the night if he would not become very hugry. We kept it secret that illuminated night skiing was available.

They didn't care much about dinner but had fruits juice flavored snow, bite icecle, and played snow ball fight while it was heavily snowing, cold and dark.

Next morning, Shu plawed car out alone, and tended mastle aching Mom up to the skiing slope. On the stormy final day, which was 3rd day of our ski trip, all 4, mastered skiing , rode ski lift as many times as possible, without any complaint to the coldness or blowing stormy snow, till very last minutes before leaving.

All my friends helped me said they very much enjoyed those three days, eventhough they themselves couldn't ski any.

Children packed their things into the bag and carried their bag by themselves, and even offered me of their help for carrying my heavy bag. They behaved as gentle as grown up.

The day after getting back to Tokyo, we went Shinjyuku, down town area of Tokyo. When stepped down from the station, Shu startled me asking why there was no grass on road, nore tree at road side.Hajime and Mom challenged venturing around alone with map in hands. Shu bought me pierce earings as a thank you gift, while Satoshi offered me to accompany me for shopping, and he also crafted birthday card to my father whose birth day is just on that day.

Last winter holiday was the one which brought buried and forgotten warmth back to my heart.

They are now preparing free stay invitation card to my frienda at warm weather Amami Ohshima with much expectations to geather all of us again.

Sincerly Yours,
sea-la
