WE LOVE RANDY RHOADS FOREVER
 
1956.12.6 Randall William Rhoads was born at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California.
  rr [Family] Randy had one brother (Doug) and one sister (Kathy), Randy was youngest of three. Their father, William Arthur Rhoads, a public school music teacher, left in May, 1958, and their mother, Delores Violet Rhoads, raised all three children. Their father remarried later, making two children (Dan and Paul), so Randy had two “half” brothers.
1962-1963 Randy began to take guitar lessons with his sister Kathy at music school, named Musonia, in North Hollywood, which was managed by his mother. Randy got his first guitar, Gibson acoustic guitar, which was belonged to Delores' father. He also started taking piano lessons at his mother's request around the same time, so he could learn to read music. But they didn't last very long.
    He loved Elvis Presley around that time.
1968 Randy became interested in rock guitar. Delores gave him semi-acoustic guitar, Harmony Rocket. Randy took lessons for about a year from Scott Shelly, who was a guitar teacher at Delores' school .
    Delores told Harmony Rocket was almost larger than Randy was.
It's said that Scott told to Delores he couldn't teach Randy anymore because he'd learned everything he knew at the end of the lessons.
1970 Randy was in his first band, VIOLET FOX, for about 4 or 5 months. He played rhythm guitars.
    VIOLET FOX was named after his mother's middle name, Violet. His brother Doug played drums. After that, Randy was in various another bands, such as “THE KATZENJAMMER KIDS”, “MILDRED PIERCE”, “VIOLET ROSE”, playing at parties in the Burbank area. They covered ALICE COOPER, DEEP PURPLE and so on.
1971 Randy met Kelly Garni at John Muir Junior High School, and they became longtime friends.
    Randy tauht Kelly to play bass guitar.
1976 QUIET RIOT was organized. Members were Kevin Dubrow (vo), Randy Rhoads (g), Kelly Garni (b), Drew Forsyth (dr). Randy began teaching guitar at his mother's school at noon, playing with QUIET RIOT at night.
    The band name was originally LITTLE WOMAN. The name QUIET RIOT is the idea of Kevin's friend Rick Parfitt, who was in the band Status Quo.
1977.6-8 1st album was recorded in Wally Heider Studios, Hollywood.
1978.3.21 [release] 1st album [Quiet Riot], 7"EP [It's Not So Funny] from CBS/Sony Co.,Ltd., only in Japan.
1978.6-9 2nd album was recorded at Record Plant Studios, Los Angels.
1978.9 Kelly Garni (b) left the band, Rudy Sarzo joined.
1978.12 [release] 2nd album [Quiet Riot U], from CBS/Sony Co.,Ltd., only in Japan.
1979.4? Randy went to Karl Sandoval to have a custom guitar made. It created the black and white polka dot flying V later.
    It would cost Randy $738.00.
1979.9.22 Randy got polka dot flying V.
1979.latter At the request of Randy's friend Dana Strum, Randy went to audition for a band which would be put together with Ozzy Osbourne, former lead vocalist of Black Sabbath. It's decided that Randy would become the guitarist of Ozzy's new band.
    Randy wasn't interested in this audition at first as he was happy with Quiet Riot and thought this audition was too heavy for him.
It's said that Ozzy felt as if Randy were a girl when they met first.
1979.11 BLIZZARD OF OZZ was organized. Members were Ozzy Osbourne (vo), Randy Rhoads (g), Bob Daisly (b), Lee Kerslake (dr).
    Bob and Lee were former URIAH HEAP members. The band rehearsed at John Henry's, a rehearsal hall in London.
1980.3.22-4.19 1st album was recorded at Ridge Farm Studio in Surrey, UK.
1980.5 Randy returned home to California to participate the final QUIET RIOT re-union live show at the Starwood Club in Hollywood.
1980.5.5-20 1st album was mixed at Ridge Farm Studio in Surrey, UK.
    This album was originally to be mixed by Chris Tsangarides, but Ozzy wasn't satisfied with his work and fired him for a week. Ozzy hired Max Norman who was a Ridge Farm Studio's resident engineer.
1980.8 [release] 7"EP [Crazy Train] in UK, ahead of the album.
1980.9.12 [release] 1st album [Blizzard Of Ozz] in UK.
1st UK "The Wildman Returns" tour started from Apollo Theatre of Glasgow in Scotland.
1980.11.8 [release] 12"and 7"EP [Mr. Crowley Live] in UK.
2nd UK tour started from Nottingham.
    The sound source of EP is the live of the 1st UK tour.
1980.12 Randy returned to California for Christmas and went to Grover Jackson of Charvel guitars to create a custom guitar. It created the very first Jackson V, which was finished white.
    This type of guitar would become synonymous with the Randy Rhoads name.
This finished guitar was sent to Randy about two months later.
1981.2-3 2st album was mixed at Ridge Farm Studio in Surrey, UK
    Actually the recording of this album became very rushed because of an impending United States tour following. Randy told the guitar solo on "Little Dolls" wasn't intended to be for finished song.. None of the band members could be present for the mixing.
1981.3 [release] 1st album [Blizzard Of Ozz] in US
1981.4.22 US "Blizzard Of Ozz" tour started from Towson Center, Maryland.
    The sound source of "Tribute" was recorded on this tour.
1981.4.28 "After Hours " video was recorded in Rochester, New York
1981.5 Bob Daisely(b), Lee Kerslake(dr) left. Rudy Sarzo(b), Tommy Aldrige(dr) joined.
1981.8.1 The band appeared on Heavy Metal Holocaust Festival in Portvale, UK
1981.8 [release] 12", 7"EP[Over The Mountain] in UK
1981.9 Randy went to Grover Jackson again to have another custom guitar made after the US tour. (black finished Jackson V)
1981.10.16 [release] 7"EP[Flying High Again] in US
1981.10.31 [release] 2nd album [Diary Of A Madman] in UK
1981.11.19 UK "Blizzard Of Ozz" tour started.
    This tour was canceled a few days later because Ozzy was in bad shape.

1981.12.30 US "Diary Of A Madman" tour started from Cow Palace, San Francisco
1982.3.19 Randy lost his life in a plane crash at the age of 25 at Flying Baron Estates in Leesburg, Florida, US
    The plane operator was Andrew C. Aycock, who were their tour bus driver and lived at the accident site. On the bus, there were Ozzy Osbourne, Sharon Arden, Rudy Sarzo, Tommy Aldrige. Don Airey, Wanda Aycock, Andrew Aycock, Rachel Youngblood, Randy Rhoads and the band's tour manager. Andrew Aycock, Rachel Youngblood and Randy Rhoads lost ther life in this accident.
