Today, thank you for coming and celebrating with us, this special occasion "Koki No
Iwai". Since ancient times reaching the age of seventy has held special meaning for
Japanese people. As Toho, a Chinese poet, reads in his verse "Jinsei, Nanajuu-Koki,
Marenari" "it is very rare to live for 70 years".
Emiko Gosyono this year turned 70. She has lived a very long and happy life, free of
accidents and ill health. The support of a loving community of family and friends has
enabled this. In turn she would like to celebrate and remember these people by sharing a
big passion in her life and the lives of her daughters in a display of never before seen
art crafts.
The collection began as hobbies and has come to span a period of twenty years of skillful
crafting for Emiko, 5 years for Midori and 15 years for Akemi. Prior to this viewing each
piece was stored in numerous boxes waiting for just such an occasion for first viewing.
This is a very special time so please wander through at your leisure and enjoy.
With warmest wishes
Emiko Gosyono
Midori Suzuki
Akemi Saito
