「この用紙に記入していただけますか」

S:
O.K. Will this do?
「わかりました。これでいいですか？」

I:
Fine. Do you wish to pay the fee into your account?
「結構です。お支払いは口座引き落としでよろしいですか」

S:
Yes, I do.
「はい」

I:
Will you fill out this form then?
「それではこの用紙にお書きください」

★授業を終えたショーンと

Sean:
I’m tired out.
「すんげぇ疲れた」

I:
So am I. Look! It’s 2 o’clock! We still have a lot to do.
「私も。でも、まだ2時よ。やらなきゃいけないことはどっさり」

S:
Shall we take a break, anyway?
「とにかく、一服しようよ」

I:
Why not?
「そうしましょ」

★生徒のＰさんと

I:
Hi, P-san, how are you?
「こんにちは、Ｐさん、お元気？」

P:
So-so.
「まぁまぁ」

I:
But you look down in the mouth today.
「でも何か元気ないですよ」

P:
Do I?
「わかる？」

I:
Yes. What’s eating you?
「どうかなさったんですか」

P:
One of my colleagues, Q.
「同僚のＱよ」

I:
Did she do something to you again?
「また何かされたんですか」

P:
Yes, as usual, she smiles to my face and stabs me in the back.
「あのなぁ、いっつも私といてるときはええことばっかり言うねんか、それやのに陰に回ったら、むっちゃ悪口言いよんねん」

I:
Oh, that’s terrible, but don’t let it worry you too much.
「それはひどいですね。でもあまり気にせん方がいいのと違います？」

S:
But I have a breaking point.
「でもな、マジ切れ寸前」

★授業を終えたレニー

Lenny:
Would you like some coffee?
「コーヒーでもどう？」

I:
No, thank you.
「いまはいい」

L:
Are you sure?
「ほんとに？」

I:
Yes, please don’t bother.
「ホント。おかまいなく」

L:
I was just going to buy some for myself. Wouldn’t you like to join me?
「コーヒー買いに行こうと思って。一緒に行かない？」

I:
O.K. I’ll join you then.
「なら、一緒に行きましょ」

★来て間もない生徒さんに

I:
Do you get used to your class?
「授業には慣れましたか？」

S:
No, not yet.
「まだちょっと・・・」

I:
I know how you feel. Everybody feels the same.
「そうでしょうね。でも、誰でも最初はそうなんですよ」

S:
That’s not what I meant. I’m not used to talking with young men.
「そういう意味じゃないんです。若い男性の方と話をするのに慣れないんです」

★授業を終えたテッドと

Ted:
Are you done?
「終わった？」

I:
Not yet.
「まだ」

T:
I’m finally done. It’s a long day.
「ボクはやっと終わった。長い一日だった」

I:
That’s good, Bye.
「それは良かった。じゃね」

T:
When is the deadline of your work?
「その仕事の締め切りはいつ」

I:
The end of this week.
「今週末」

T:
Then you still have some days, don’t you?
「なら、まだ日があるじゃない」

I:
That’s right.
「そうね」

T:
Shall we call it a day, then?
「じゃ、今日はこのくらいにしようよ」

I:
I don’t know why we shouldn’t.
「そうしましょ」
