  青春とは人生のある期間ではなく、心の持ちかたをいう。
薔薇の面差し、紅の唇、しなやかな肢体でなく、たくましい
意志、豊かな想像力、炎える情熱をさす。青春とは人生の深
い泉の清新さを云う。

　青春とは怯懦(きょうだ)を退ける勇気、安易を振り捨てる
冒険心を意味する。時には、二十歳の青年よりも六十歳の人
に青春がある。

　歳月は皮膚にしわを増すが、情熱を失えば心はしぼむ。
苦悩･恐怖・失望により気力は地に這い、精神は芥(あくた)
になる。

　六十歳であろうと十六歳であろうと人の胸には、驚異に魅
かれる心、おさな児のような未知への探求心、人生への興味
の歓喜がある。君にも吾にも見えざる駅逓がある。人から神
から美・希望・喜悦・勇気・力の霊感を受ける限り君は若い。

　霊感が絶え、精神が皮肉の雪におおわれ、悲嘆の氷に閉ざ
されるとき、二十歳であろうと人は老いる。頭(こうべ)を高
く上げ希望の波をとらえる限り、八十歳であろうと　人は青
春にして已む。

　Youth is not a time of life---it is a state of mind;
it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple
knees; it is a matter of the will,a quality of the im-
agination, a vigor of the emotions;it is the freshness
of the deep springs of life.

  Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage 
over timidity of the appetite,for adventure over the 
love of ease.This often exists in a man of sixty more 
than a boy of twenty.Nobody grows old merely by number 
of years.We grow old by deserting our ideals.

  Years may wrinkle the skin,but to give up enthuasiam
wrinkles the soul. Worry ,fear,self-distrust bows the 
heart and turns the spirit back to dust.

  Whether sity or sixteen, there is in every human bei-
ng's heart the lure of wonder,the unfailing child-like 
appetite of what's next,and the joy of game of living.
In the center of your heart and my heart there is wire-
less station; so long as it receives messages of beauty,
hope,cheer,courage and power from men and from the Infi-
nite,so long are you young.

  When the aerials are down, and your sprit is covered 
with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism , then 
you are grown old, even at twenty, but as long as your 
aerial are up, to catch the waves of opitimism, there 
is hope you may die young at eighty.
