GuitarのカリスマJimi Hendrix

今さら言うまでもなくElectric Bluesの一つのタイプを確立したたギタリストである。
もちろんBluesで括れない所がJimi Henの魅力でもあって、底流としてBLUESが離れられない 訳だが、そこから逸脱しようというもどかしい企みが彼のパッションを感じさせるのだ。
それが天才たる所以である。オリジナルの楽曲の多くも新たなアイデア、才能の迸りを 解き放つための方法論がその曲でしか実現できないからと思わせるものである。
Isley Bros. Curtis KnightといったSoul のバンドでギターを弾いていた若者だったが， N.Y.のLive Spotで独特の肌触りのギターを弾いているのを聴いた、もと AnimalsのChas Chandlerが英国へ 誘い、（というものイギリスはBlues には絶好の市場であったからである）その地で唯一無二の新しいヘビーな ロックが誕生したのだった。
当然ながら米国へ逆輸入され、大評判となった。Monterey Pop Festival に出場したときに自分達の前に演奏した "The Who"のPete Towngentがギターを壊しまくったので、 Jimiはしょうが無くギターに油をかけて焼いたのだと言う。
2枚組みのElectric Ladyland を制作した後、Experienceを解散して新しいバンドBand Of Gypsys を組んだ。 何度かステージをこなした後英国内で72年9月18日死去。ドラッグが原因だと言われている。
