Ground-Bromeliads (Cryptanthus sp.), Tank-Bromeliads (Billbergia 'Fiesta'), and Fern (Asplenium nidus cv. Avis)

Platycodon (Campanula sp.), Tank-Bromeliads (Catopsis sp.), Ground-Bromeliads (Cryptanthus sp.), and Carnivorous plant (Pinguicula cv. Weser) on mosses.

STRUCTURE OF VIVARIUMS:

This is basic structure of my vivarium cage.

Entity Description

CAGE

Glass cage is used, because it is easy to do cleaning. Take care any scratch, if you use acrylic cage.

GROUND

I'm using composite media of pumices and charcoal chips.

LIGHT

General Aqalium light (about 15W) is used at top of cage. I use this in 8:00AM-1:00AM.

WIND

An Air Fan blow room air to cage from top side. This works 15 minutes in each 1 hour all day.

WATER

Cage keeps about 4cm (1.5inchs) depth water.

AIR TO BOTTOM OF CAGE

An Air Pump at out of cage and a Bottom Filter at bottom of cage are used. Silicon tube is used transmitting air from air pump to bottom filter. Bubble of this will stir water in cage.

OTHERS

Dead wood is used for epiphytes. And living mosses are used on ground.

APPLICATIONS:

COLOR OF LEAVES

I'm trying to make leaves of Tillandsia to red color. Following example is a succeeded case in my environment. This T. ionantha was one of specimens in the clump, which all specimens are colored GREEN. When it leaves from clump, I put it on a dead wood in a vivarium in same room. After it, some leaves of this specimen colored RED! Another specimens in/out of the clump are colored GREEN yet. NOTE that I couldn't assure it in all case of vivarium. Because it is only one case with individual factors. This shows only possibility to color artificially.

A light of vivarium makes LEAVES to RED. (Maybe...)
