Team Japan Report
by Hiroyoshi Ohba, a supporting
member of Japan F2B Team.
Second and third flights of F2B finals were completed this day. We had awarding ceremony and banquet.
This day was fine throughout the day. Finally we had good weather. Wind blew little in the morning and gradually got faster in the afternoon. But the direction was different from previous days and less turbulance occurred.
Clemente Cappi was keeping the time as an F2B circle marshall.
He is very happy and nice person. He introduced Kaz to his wife outside
the circle.
Yokoyama was in 18th place in qualification and served in calibration flight for judges of fly off.
Nogome started Discovery Retro 60 for the second flight of finals.
Kaz primed D. Retro 60.
As the very last competition event of this championship, final race of F2C started at 16:30. Almost all the spectators are gathered at racing circle.
The final race was carried out by Russia, Ukraine and France teams. The circle was constructed beautifully and facilitated very well.
In the evening, we had banquet at gym of local school. On the table of US speed team, from left to right, Mrs. King, Miss Krystal King, son of Tommy Brown, Hiroyoshi Ohba, and Mrs. and Mr. Brown. Very nice American people.
Japan F2B team won second team prize. Sada Yoshimura, Shoichiro Nogome, Kaz Minato and Mitsuru Yokoyama (from left to right).
Diploma and ornament for Japan F2B team.
Both individual and team winner of F2B was China.
The third place on F2B was US stunt team.
F2C team winner was France.
US combat team was third place.
Beautiful landscape of French country side. Picture was taken on the way from hotel to the site. It was very very fortunate to visit here. People were very kind, friendly and warm. We really enjoyed staying here. Wonderful memory lasts forever. Thank you France and French organization. See you at next world championship in Germany 2002.
very best regards,
Hiroyoshi Ohba
