Team Japan Report

Qualification flight was completed in the morning of this day. Round one of final was flown in the afternoon.
We had sixteen finalists consisting of top fifteen contenders plus third junior competitor. Top fifteen contain two junior flyers. They were excellent flyers. Organizers counted them in fifteen finalists. The third junior was added for finals for junior competition.
Nogome proceeded to finals.
Minato was preparing for the first round of finals. He brought two models to this competition, Ukranian model that was powered with Discovery Retro and the latest Blue Max (PA61 pipe) that was recently kitted from his company. The choice was dependent on the condition of the circle. He chose Ukranian because of heavy turbulance and cold climate here.
Guess what was going on in the spectators.
Mr.B17 himself assembled Nine-O-Nine on lawn. Because the transporter was not large enough to carry the model assembled, he had to do assembly and disassembly every day. The assembly was beautifully organized and completed within a few minutes.
Uniform for mission specialists.
B17 Nine-O-Nine was ready to take off. Tank was filled, all the engines were primed, octopus power codes were connected.
He liked to express sincere thanks to all the people who helped him to complete this mission in France.
Mr. Werwage was preparing P47 for finals.
He told he was spending a wonderful time at Landres.
Tommy Brown of US speed team on lovely wife, Masaru Hiki (white, Japan F2B adviser), and Akira Nakayama (blue, Japan speed).
Tommy Brown was starting Irvine for third official flight.
In this competition, the official speed record was measured by stopwatches, but new electric device was tested by Peter Halman of British speed team. I suppose that the device detects the lap of the model optically. It was small and not expensive as $200. It is ran by PC.
US junior Dondi Garrison proceeded to finals for junior competition. Senior members support him.
Market place of World Championship. This year's market was very small.
There was demonstration of navy carrier competition. Blue model missed the landing deck.
