DAY3
(July 16, 2000)
CL WCh. Landres, France 2000
Team Japan Report
by Hiroyoshi Ohba, a supporting
member of Japan F2B Team.
We had second qualification flight of Minato and Yokoyama this day.
It was windy and cloudy too. We drove on wet roads to the site.
Yokoyama was waiting for his second qualification flight. The condition was farely good with slow wind and no rain.
Yokoyama brought his Pioneer to the start point. Note Minato wearing rain boots because of muddy ground due to continuous precipitate.
Sada Yoshimura held the handle for Yokoyama. Kaz Minato supported Pioneer.
Imcomplete and preliminary result of qualification. Two flights each competiter were not completed yet. We will have remaining second flights next morning. Qualified competitors will be officially announced at the noon July 17. Probably we will have fifth day for the finals in which each of fifteen competitors fly three flights.
French and Chinese junior competiters were 6th and 8th, respectively. Green line indicates top 15 to be qualified.
The points for Japan and US competitors at 19:00 July 16 are;
Kaz Minato 2906/2855.5
Shoichiro Nogome 2777.5/2900
Mitsuru Yokoyama 2669.5/2894.5

1-2-3-4 Naha Naha GAME
Because it was rainy and cold, we invented games to cheer up and keep warm. One example is 1-2-3-4 Naha/Naha game. As shown in above figure, green one starts the game with calling "1". Following persons continue saying "2", "3", and "4". The person who calls "4" points anybody including oneself with a finger. In above example, blue person is pointed out. Then both neighbors (green and red) say "Naha Naha" with waving hands back and force above the head. Naha Naha have no meaning but just funny sounds. The game restarts with calling "1" by blue person.
They serve Champion de Monde wine.
US speed team member, Thomas Brown was practicing. I suppose he
flew more than twenty flights this day.
He is very nice person who helped Japanese speed flyer Nakayama in
refurbishing broken model. Thank you Tommy.
A beautiful lady walking to camera was junior competitor Krystal King. She is very good at controlling speed model.
US F2B junior competitor Dondi Garrison was starting the engine. Paul Walker (middle) helped.
