Team Japan Report

This day began very early. We left hotel at 6:25 and reached the site before 7. Each competiter of our team had first round of F2B qualification flight. Fifteen finalists would be selected from 93 participants by three days of qualification.
Yokoyama, Nogome, Yoshimura and Minato (from left to right) were discussing on wind in F2B circle.
Organizers asked Nogome to serve in calibration flight for judges. Yokoyama assists in holding Iria World (Discovery Retro 60).
Sada Yoshimura (yellow jacket) was giving the final suggestion to Mitsuru Yokoyama in center circle before the flight.
Yokoyama was preparing his qualification flight. Nogome held Pioneer
(PA61 Aeropipe).
Wind was worst at this time of the day. Yoko did marverous control
in very bad condition.
Nogome entered the circle for his first competition flight of World Championship.
Kaz Minato started qualification flight. It was very brief period that wind became calm. Fortunately his entire flight completed in calm condition
French junior competitor took care of his model that was powered by
Saito 56 four cycle engine.
His flight was excellent. We suppose he will be qualified in
senior competition.
US F2B team was preparing Star Gazer for qualification flight. It was little rain and turbulance.
Mr. Walker adjusted four FP15 engines of B17 Nine-0-Nine. He confirmed starting sequence again and again. He used sinus splay for priming. Electricity was provided to the engines by a single large battery.
