タイ・ナーン県／ワット・ノンブゥア
タイ北部の織物は 木綿と民族布が主体で 織物自体には あまり興味が無いのが本音だ。 が ラオスの織物旅とタイの織物旅が交錯する地域であり 草木による染めに馴染みやすい関係だろうが 天然染料の伝統が根付いていて 何かと タイ北部を 訪れたくなってしまう。 タイ東北部のお祭りの出店で 北部の織物事情を色々教えてもらった ナーン県の織物商人に 出会いたくて 遥々 チェンマイから １週間の予定で 出かけて 行った。 ラオス行きの飛行機もあるようだ。 ナーン地方特有の織物 特に マットミー（かすり）模様を使っている ラーイ・カートカーン の出会い旅に専念したが 結果 木綿ではなく 絹織物が 見つかるという 最高の幸運に 巡り遭えた。 技術・模様は 低位だが ラオスで しつこく追い求めているムック技法の織物に タイのこの地でも 出会えた。
The Textiles Motifs in Nan （ナーン地方の織模様パターン）
Motifs used in the nan textile could be categorized into three main types.
1 LAI LUANG （ルアン模様）
means a motif design in the cloth which occurs by the technique of using
the hands to intertwine different colors of yarn to make a design in mind
while weaving , different motifs invented by this technique are ;
LAI BAI MEED （blades of knife）、LAI NAM LAI （water falling）、LAI CHARUAT
（rocket）、LAI DOK MAI （floral）
2 LAI KEEP MOOK （ケップムック模様）
means a motif which is created by a more complicated technique which is similar to the Northern style of cloth .The technique is to seperate the motifs with different sizes of sticks and connected to the fabrique set on the loom by weaving them vertically, most designs will be made to imitate nature and environments , some of the motifs are ;
flowers, utensils,animals and different types of geometric designs.
3 LAI KAD KAN （カートカーン模様）
is the motif which is similar to an IKAT fabrique of the Northeast called "Mudmee" the technique is to tie-die the fabrique simply with a banana cord,
some of the motifs are ;
primitive KAN as seen on fresco designs at various monuments in Sukhothai,
LAI KAN NAM LAI which is derived from LAI NAM LAI etc.
