マーサ・スチュワート。
一言で言ってしまえば、米国のスーパーカリスマ主婦といったところでしょうか。1941年8月3日ニュージャージー州生まれ。大学2年の時に結婚し、卒業後は株のブローカーとして活躍。その後、コネチカットに移住して、ケータリング・ビジネスを始めます。このビジネスが大当たりをし、Entertainingという本を出版。更に、家事に関する雑誌・書籍を次々と出版し、ＴＶにも出演。1998年、1999年の2度にわたりフォーチュン誌で「最もパワフルな女性50人」に、1996年にはタイム誌で「アメリカで最も影響力を持つ25人」にも選ばれています。

現在はマーサ・スチュワート リビング オムニメディア社の会長兼最高責任者であり、女性のライフスタイルを素材に出版、テレビ番組製作、オリジナルブランド商品の開発、ラジオ番組製作、インターネットを利用したサービスおよびビジネスなど幅広い事業を展開中。

というわけで、家事を芸術の領域にまで極めた女性とも言われてますが、家事嫌いの私などは、彼女の本でも読んで心を入れ直すべきか、はたまた、人には向き不向きがあると開き直るべきか「マーサ・スチュワート」という言葉を耳に、目にするたびに、主婦心がちょっと疼きます(^^;)
