[Rapid-prototyping]
This Page informs the features of our newly developed PROJECTION MODELER, editing samles of STL data with our NfDesign and real modeled samples with the PROJECTION MODELER.
If you are interested in modeling, please let us know by Email:RXI04254@nifty.com.
Features of the PROJECTION MODELER
- The system incorporates a program, called NfDesignCS, which is used for editting STL, generating supports, and calculating cross sections and generating projection images. Geometric functions of the program come from NfDesign.
- A projector is used and resin is hardened by projection ray.
- Sliced data of 3D STL are converted to black and white images being projected by the projector.
- The size of the images is 1024X768 dots and 1 dot of the images is controlled to 0.1mm by optical glasses.
Then the maximum size of the modeling is 102X76 mm.
Newly developed system makes it possible to adopt 1050X1400 dots images and then to generate at most 105X140X200mm models.
- Projection ray is focused on a transparent film on which resin is spreaded thin. Then a projected image is hardened.
- One projection hardens 0.1mm thick and all the hardened resin are heaped up.
- Since one projection hardens projected image at once, very rapid modeling is possible.(projection exposure time: 2-6 sec. depends on resins.)
- The hardware is simple and it's cycle time is 4-8 sec. including exposure time.

Edit Samples with NfDesign and Real Modeled Samples
- The first of the following three is a rendering image of some
protein molecular model within NfDesign.
Please refer to this treaties too though it is written in Japanese.
The 3D coordinate of each atom forming a protein molecule is expanded by several hundred millions(1A=1.8mm).
NfDesign makes it possible to arrange metaball at each center.
Metaballs within a distance are merged each other and all the entities are converted to polygons.
Narrow circular cylinders(yellow) are for supports of which positions are automatically calculated by another program.
Due to a newly developed software technology, sphere polygons can directly be applied to molecules at present.
As a result, the boundaries between molecules can clearly be generated.
The next images are a real modeled sample with the PROJECTION MODELER and original RASMOL image.
- The first of the following two is a rendering image of a
turbine blades created with NfDesign.
The second is a real modeled sample with the PROJECTION MODELER.
- The first of the following three is a 3D model of
street light.
The second is a rendering image of the street light after adding supports for real modeling.
The third is the real modeled sample after dividing up and down part for efficient modeling.
- The first of the following three is a 3D model of
Venus Head
.
The second is a model where offset model is included in the original model.
The offset model is set light blue and the original is set half transparent with NfDesign.
The opening space between two models is hardened.
The third is a real modeled sample.
- The first of the following two is a 3D model of a
Heat Shield.
This model is too large to model with the PROJECTION MODELER at a time.
NfDesign makes it possible to divide original model into several parts of appropriate sizes.
The second is the rendering image of the divided parts.
After real modeling, each part is assembled into one.
