The man who couldn't estimate about himself.

The author Mayama Seika(1878-1948) is a novelist and a dramatist from Sendai of Miyagi prefecture. He came to Tokyo in order to become a novelist in 1903. He made a debut as a novelist in 1905, but he had to stop writing, because he made a double selling of his work.

After three years from that matter, Seika restarted writing as a dramatist. His work's particularity is his logical thinking. One of the most popular novelists in Japan, Mishima Yukio appreciated his works.

I haven't read any his works yet, but if Mishima had said his works were logical, I think that they would have been good.

Seika's drama has three types. A reassessment drama of the historical incidents. An analysis drama of the historical hero's inside. A human drama who lives in the low class of the society.

This drama, 'Arakawa no Sakichi' is one of the human drama living in the low class of the society. Its situation was set up at Edo period, but Seika analysed characters with modern methods.

Sakichi is a petty underling of professional gambler, Nihei. He isn't even a henchman of Nihei, but he has the strong sense of justice unsuitably.

A petty underling man means a latent criminal. Sakichi doesn't have an ironic character like a criminal, and he is a simple young man. Although Masagoro appreciates him very much, I think that he isn't so attractive, because he couldn't think himself as a big man.

Sakichi might have been a big man, but he couldn't throw away his awareness as a petty underling. I think that that is his fatal weak point.

Sakichi didn't have his own aesthetics, so he couldn't grow up big enough. And he has been a petty underling.

When Sakichi said that he wouldn't have any boss except Nihei, Masagoro might have felt disgusting. And I think that Masagoro might have thought that Sakichi himself should have been boss..

Sakichi couldn't notice his own capacity. It made him keep as a petty underling. He would be a petty underling forever.

Oyae might have estimated Sakichi correctly.
