Watch-Ya! viewer is a data browser designed to work with Watch! Hack. With this viewer, you can read the Watcha! Hack's database as a table.
| Note: | You need Watcha! Hack to use Watch-Ya! viewer. About Watcha! Hack, see Watcha.html. |
I've confirmed that Watcha! Hack works on the devices below.
I think it should work on other devices/OSs, but if you find Watcha! Hack doesn't work in your environment, please report to me.
Watch-Ya! viewer itself doesn't work alone. Please make sure to install Watcha! Hack beforehand. Watch-Ya! viewer can be installed with a HotSync, as any other application.
To install Watcha! Hack, read Watcha.html .As Watcha! Hack is a HackMaster extension, you should read the instruction and be careful.
After install, you can launch Watch-Ya! viewer by tapping its icon on your launcher. If Watch-Ya! viewer cannot find the database of Watcha! Hack at this time, it only shows a warning and exit.
When launched normally, it shows the data as a table.
You can see the current status of your application
usage. Each part of the display has the meanings
of,
See below for further information about each item.
| Current time & date | Displays current time & date. |
| Apps' name | The names of applications launched after the activation of Watcha! Hack. The number of the left side is their index number. If the name is too long to display, it will be truncated. |
| Times Launched | The numbers of times they are launched. These
numbers are the data of after the activation
of Watcha! Hack. If the number is exceptionally low, that app might be no use for you. |
|---|---|
| The last time/date | The time or date that app lastly launched.
If the app has been launched today, this
column shows the time, otherwise it shows
the date. If the shown date is the day of long before, you might need it no more. |
| Apps of being Watched | The number of applications Watcha! Hack is currently watching. It shows to the left side that how many apps are watched by Watcha! Hack. The number in the parentheses is the total, that includes the apps whose Count bit(see below) are off. The right side number indicates how many apps are installed on your Palm device. This area also works as the button to restore Count bits. |
| Sort buttons | Three buttons to sort the data. Each button has different sort key. See Sorting data section. |
| Scroll buttons | If the display cannot show all the data at one time, you can navigate the data by using these buttons. See Scrolling data section. These buttons don't appear when all the data can be shown within the window. |
Watch-Ya! viewer can sort the data in the ways of,
These sort can be done by tapping the sort buttons. For these buttons are actually toggle buttons, you can invert the order at each tapping. (e.g.: Tapping ABC button once, the apps are displayed in alphabetical order. Tapping ABC once again, the apps are listed in Z to A order.)
At the launching, Watch-Ya! viewer shows the apps in order of the numbers of times of launch(the greater to the lesser).
You can scroll the data by one line, by tapping the scroll buttons displayed on the windows. These buttons are grayed out when it cannot scroll the data to that direction. These buttons are 'repeating-buttons.' You can keep scrolling by keeping the stylus on the button.
You can also scroll the data by one page with the hardware scroll buttons.
The bottom-left part of the display, you can see the application watching status of Watcha! Hack. The area has three numbers as XXX (YYY) / ZZZ . Each number has the meaning of,
| XXX(the left side) | The number of the apps whose count bit are on. |
| YYY(in the parentheses) | The number of the apps launched after the activation of Watcha! Hack. |
| ZZZ(the right side) | The total number of the apps installed on your device currently. |
About count bit, see below.
Count bits are some kind of internal switch used by Watcha! Hack. Watcha! Hack and Watch-Ya! viewer(and Launcha! DA) will ignore the apps whose count bit are off. The application with its count bit off is not displayed on Watch-Ya! viewer, and not checked of its launching.
This bit is implemented for 'Launcher-type' applications. When you launch Watch-Ya! viewer for the first time, you can see your launcher soft on the list, You can make it ignored by Watcha! Hack and Watch-Ya! viewer by setting the bit off. Launcher-apps themselves are launched quite often, and to watch their launchings is meaningless in the most case. (Who wants to switch back to the launcher by the hack?)
You can turn the bit off, by tapping the name of that application. If you tap the OK button on the confirmation dialog, the count bit of that app is turned off.
| Hint: | It may be convenient to set off the count bit of the built-in apps such as 'MemoPad' or 'Address.' Even if you find these apps are launched rarely, you cannot delete these apps after all. And you can launch them by hardware buttons, without Watcha! Hack's switching functions. |
If you want the count bit to turn on again, Select Restore All from Menu . By doing so (and tapping OK button on the following dialog), the count bits of all applications are turned on. This operation is assigned to the shortcut '(command stroke +)R.' You may also use the Watching status area as a button to do it.
Disclaimer, support, distribution are all the same as them of Watcha! Hack. See that section of Watcha! Hack's document.
Nothing for now. If you find one, send e-mail to me(palmtech@mbh.nifty.com).
Watch-Ya! has one more feature that is not documented. This feature is not very useful nor practical. I have wondered whether if I should delete the code for that. Maybe I extend that feature for the next version of Watch-Ya! viewer. If you happen to find that feature, sending your opinion to me will be greatly appreciated.
