<Focus it!>

The tips on the SeaSlugs taking-a photograph method (it brought forth -- there is nothing then) which I had taught are described as follows.
In the field (it is not tank photography), I think that all nice persons are taking the photograph in this way.
Although written greatly, since I am not necessarily good at taking a seaslug photograph, please read casually to reference.
Almost all seaslugs are small. Therefore, you are very difficult for uniting a focus with this small animal.
It is very serious for the strobo to be charged when the focus is correct, and to go into the good position on a finder, and to push a shutter without blurring perfectly.
Here, the technique (I had taught from Mr.Tanaka,Diving Prostore Maplage owner) which I do is introduced.

<An iris diaphragm, shutter speed>

My specifications are TTL and iris diaphragm priority auto, and a focus is the maximum fixation mostly. I think that this specification is common between amateur microscopic cameramen.
When the nearest, the depth of focusing area is about 1mm at f8. Therefore, I want to strop down the lenz more.
A strobe is full luminescence mostly ISO100 and about F22 at the nearest time of photography by my data. If it is the iris diaphragm value F16, it is in TTL tone light.
By my data, At the nearest time of photography, and it extracts by ISO100 is full luminescence mostly in about F 22. If it is the iris diaphragm value F16, it is within the limits which can be adjusted by TTL.

<Film>

I have used EBX of KODAK regularly. Since it is cheaper than FUJI, is a big reason. Although I was using the negative film at first, once it gets to know the blue of a positive film, it cannot return to a negative it.Good coloring of a positive film in case exposure is few under, thinks no one but.
Since seaslugs have many showy and beautiful colors', is it a photographic subject for positives films.

<Light measurement mode>

Next, it is the talk in light measurement mode. Multi-pattern light measurement can do all the latest cameras. It may be good for a wide photograph. However, in the case of the micro photograph in which a photographic subject is near middle in almost all cases, I consider that it is better not to use rather.
Since exposure should suit only the photographic subject.
(I think that exposure of the background is good comparatively anyhow. However, although it is very important with a micro photograph what conditions the backs are, it is another talk again.)
I am always central part important light measurement at saying. Pinpoint is sufficient. Merely, since my camera housing cannot change the light measurement mode underwater, it is always central part importance. If a wide photograph is merely also taken, probably a multi-pattern will also be used.

<Arrangement>

Although it is the talk of an arrangement, two stroboscopes are used.
Main SB105(Nikon) are attached to the left toward a photographic subject, and YS30(SEA&SEA) is attached to the right on the BlennyÕs arm.
It is made to usually apply light from a photographic subject's right and left. Of course, a position is changed according to environment. Stroboscope defuser is always attached. Since the photographic subject is near and wants to make it as soft a light as possible anyway.
Since a port is a multi-port, it can perform focus mode, auto, and manual change by the knob of a port. This is very convenient. When photographing seaslugs, I select manual focus, shortest fixation mostly. Auto focus is occasionally used at the time of photographing fishes. I think that the light of a stroboscope should just reach a photographic subject uniformly.

<Way 1. When photographing Elysia attached to seaweed>

Now, it is the talk of photography still more. It is a key how a micro photograph fixes distance of a port tip and a photographic subject, and it can set.
It is the case where Elysia attached to seaweed is photographed. A focus is fixed. You hold a little a top with a left-hand finger from the photographic subject of the seaweed which it attaches.
Let's fix a camera on your knee etc., establish with your right hand, and peep into a finder.
Seaweed is kept away or brought close and a shutter is pushed in the place which the focus suited. It is perfect.Such a thing is not easily written to a photograph magazine.

<Way 2. When photographing chromodoris which is on a rock>

Although there is a surge and it is hard to fix the body, when you want to photograph seaslug on a rock.
What is necessary is just to essentially fix the position relation between a photographic subject and a film too.
Now, let's attach a left little finger to the rock which seaslug is on, and attach the thumb to a port end. And let's fix the distance of a rock and a port and peep into a finder.
Let's unite a focus by delicate motion of a left hand, and push a shutter. At this time, let's be careful not to interrupt stroboscope light with your left hand. It is only this. It is fairly difficult, although it seems to be easy, if it writes like this.
